St. Nicholas By Robert Weir, 1837
The second depiction of St. Nicholas in America
The second depiction of St. Nicholas in America, following Pintard’s broadside, was painted by artist Robert Weir twenty-seven years after Pintard’s broadside and fourteen years after the first publication of “A Visit from St. Nicholas” on 1823. Weir paints St. Nick as a diminutive man with a finger laid aside of his nose.
